Day 1: Heartwarming “privet” welcome from yet unknown land of quality time
Our driver will meet you at the gates and drive you to the hotel where ExploRussia representative will be waiting for you. Then you will check-in to your sweet almost honeymoon suite. Depending on your arrival time and personal interests, we can take you for a nice walk around the city center to count all city lights of night Moscow the capital of Russia, a fun bar crawl or a fairy-tale evening boat ride.
Day 2: Your first adventures in the capital!
Your journey begins with a heart and soul of the old capital of Russia – the Kremlin. This former home of grand dukes and tsars now serves as the President’s official residence. It was not only the center of Russian power and politics but also the stage for so many intrigues, gossips, love affairs, and dirty plots. Now it holds a grand collection of valuable treasures belonging to different periods of the Russian history.
For lunch, we can book a table for you at a very nice place where you can try traditional Russian cuisine having the unmistakable Soviet taste or get something yummy in the great romantic café on the roof top. Then our guide will take you on a jaunt downtown. While crowds of people are rushing through for business meetings and work, we will casually walk and explore the main must-sees of the city. Of course, we will stand on paving stones of Red Square, take pictures near colorful St. Basil’s Cathedral, and enjoy beautiful GUM department store, solemn Lenin’s mausoleum and grand State Historical Museum.
Then we will turn to Tverskaya Street, the main traffic vein of the city where we will pass by secret yards which are not known even by the locals and visit a hidden church, one of the several lucky ones that did not get demolished during the Soviet time.
To get the most out of your romantic getaway we suggest having a fantastic dinner at a restaurant located in a Baroque mansion and then visit Russian ballet or opera at the Bolshoi Theatre or Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko theater. It is time to wear your fancy clothes and order champagne!
Day 3: Modern past exploration
Today we will explore the most impressive examples of Soviet Russia in Moscow in a car tour “Back to the USSR”. We will see one of the most fantastic views of the old capital from the observation point in the Sparrow Hills, monumental Moscow State University, one of Stalin’s skyscrapers (one of his so-called ‘Seven Sisters’ and we will see it from outside) and one of the most prestigious universities in Russia. We will walk through inspiring Victory Park (Poklonnaya Hill) and VDNKH Park, the so-called “All-Russian Exhibition Center”. Along the way, we can arrange a romantic photo shooting with props at any stop during the excursion. Learn something new and make memories at the same time!
Then we will bring you to the every-Soviet-child dream world - the museum of legendary Soviet arcade machines! There are more than 50 types of arcade machines produced in the USSR by secret military factories from the late 1970s up to Perestroika period. Today not only will you get a chance to dive into their fantastic history but also actually play!
After the tour, we can book a table for you at the restaurant located on the 22nd floor or a magnificent place where romance is something you breathe in and eat. Or a great place downtown where you will spend the time before meals are ready by sculpturing something from clay given to each guest entering this world of art and great food. You can take your collective work with you or place it on one of the walls presenting the works of previous creators.
Or else spend the afternoon in Garage – the museum of contemporary art. It is a creative space where modern art, technologies and desire to organize a museum have come together. Contemporary-art lovers and just curious people will find a lot visiting Garage. As a great finale, you might take a boat ride from the Gorky Park to see magnificent Moscow at a different angle.
Day 4: Walking the streets of marvelous St Petersburg
In the morning we will transfer you to the train station to get on a fast train to St Petersburg. Trains are an essential part of life in Russia as they are one of the most convenient ways to travel through grand distances. All Russians who have ever traveled by train can tell you a couple of romantic stories connected with trains, and today you will have a chance to feel the vibes and absolutely magic atmosphere.
Upon arrival you will be transferred to the sweet local hotel, check in and get some time to rest before the coming dynamic day!
What is the better way to get acquainted with a new city if not walking? So we will start your day with a sightseeing tour. Passing by small, cozy cafes and indie???? bars we can stop for a nice cup of coffee here and there, learn about the local life by observing picturesque graffiti in courtyards and by gorgeous side-streets. We will walk along Nevsky Prospekt, the main street of St Petersburg, make a short stop near Kazan Cathedral and the Church of the Savior on the Spilt Blood, feel the majestic atmosphere of St. Isaac’s Cathedral colonnade and take lots of pictures!
To have a snack our guide will take you to one of the coziest and loveliest cafes known only to the locals. You will be able not only try the Russian cuisine but also breath in the spirit of St Petersburg. They say, its spirit is so strong that you can almost touch it.
Today we want to show you another side of the legendary creation of Peter the Great - its art and hip soul. Our young local designer will get you along the hidden paths to the most inspiring and trendy sights such as the center of modern arts Etazhi, small flea market zones, and atmospheric New Holland island.
For the most adventurous ones, we can arrange a hen-party and stag-party in a traditional Russian style. You will participate in ancient and modern ceremonies, learn what wedding preparations used to be centuries ago and experience modern traditions of this significant event.
Day 6: Sensational immerse into the time of Imperial Russia
Today you are going on a marvelous trip to one of the most exciting sights – the Peterhof Palace. “Russian Versailles”, UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a complex of majestic palaces and awe-inspiring gardens. For 200 years it was the summer residence of Russian Emperors, and today you will understand why.
The home for various receptions, exquisite festivities, stunning balls, concerts, and intriguing masquerades, it can’t but impress. We will see the Grand Palace, the Mon Plaisir Palace, walk around 150 beautiful fountains, the Upper and Lower Parks, and finally, you will see the Gulf of Finland
For the last evening in Russia, we can book an unforgettable dinner experience for you. Heard a lot about Russian caviar? Tonight not only will you have a chance to try it but also participate in real Russian fishing, it all will take place in the magnificent restaurant located in the nature site! They also serve more than 40 kinds of vodka and top-branded liquors along with the most famous though not widely known but always delicious dishes of Russian cuisine!
Day 7: Farewell
It’s time to collect all your souvenirs, memorable little things and luggage, throw the last glimpse at Russia and head back to your hometown refreshed and full of awesome stories about your adventures abroad.
