Coronavirus Social Media Challenges popular in Russia

Facing coronavirus pandemic the question that we have in our minds is how to survive quarantine and self-isolation. Experts advise to spend less time in crowded places and if possible to stay home. In Russia after arriving from foreign countries with many cases of infection you have to stay at home for two weeks – such a decree was issued by the authorities. Many companies allowed their employees to work from home as a preventative measure. Actually the question arises, how not to gain weight eating too much and at the same time not to lose sense of humour. So many celebrities throughout the world and in Russia as well started their Coronavirus social media challenges.

We have collected the list of them. For some, it can be a good way to feel like a part of a whole world struggling and suffering such difficult times. For others to add sum fun activity in their lives staying home.

#SafeHands Challenge

Tedros Ghebreyesus, WHO Director General, was one of the first to launch a new social media challenge. After him it gained great popularity and new videos appear almost every day. People urge everyone to be conscious observe hygiene rules and wash their hands more often.

The ex-first racket of the world Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova published a video on Twitter, addressing Naomi Campbell, TV presenter Tim Ferris and other participants to be the next.

#StayAtHome Challenge

This hashtag has become popular among football players and their fans, who are forced to stay at home due to the virus. Sporting events around the world were cancelled due to the the virus, also referred to as COVID-19. In the videos the athletes decided to play a trick on what role toilet paper plays in our lives. 

Lionel Messi went further, he took the ’10-touch Toilet Paper Challenge’.

#HomeCup challenge

Forward of Juventus and the Portuguese national team Cristiano Ronaldo invited everyone to try to break his record in a “Home Cup” social media challenge. 

Lying flat on your back with your legs fully extended toward the ceiling, crunch toward the ceiling and reach your hands to your feet. Cristiano offers to crunch maximum number of times in 45 seconds. The holder of five Golden Balls demonstrated excellent shape as usual – he repeated the exercise 142 times.

Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva carried the torch immediately. The two-time silver medalist of the Olympic Games repeated the exercise during her tour in Japan. Her result was much worse – Evgenia managed to do the exercise only 44 times in 45 seconds.

#UnoVision Challenge

If you are tired of sport and like dancing this social media challenge is the one you’ll like for sure. The Russian group Little Big which was supposed to take part in Eurovision in the Netherlands this year, launched the challenge immediately after the presentation of their new song Uno. A simple dance appeared in TikTok. It doesn’t matter that Eurovision has been canceled, watch the clip dance and have fun.

Famous Russian comedian Mikhail Galustyan launched Instagram challenge “Change at home.” On his Instagram the showman posted a video in which his daughters shave his beard and mustache. As a result the comedian looks completely different.

#FlipTheSwith Challenge

Flip The Switch Challenge gained popularity in social networks in March. It attracted stars like J. Lo and A-Rod, Emily Ratajkowski and even an ex-candidate for the presidency of the United States.

The challenge is based on Drake’s single “Nonstop” from the Scorpion album. A couple dances and after the phrase “flipped the switch” turns off the light for a second – and after switching on the light changes their clothes. A great chance to try on another person’s identity.

Russian celebrities also participated in the challenge. One of the most popular videos in Russia is the one performed by Ivan Urgant the famous night show host and Russian folk songs singer Nadezhda Babkina.
